Change RAID configuration from RAID1 to RAID0 (no RAID)

Post by kemicza »

Hi all,
First of I'm very pleased with my Asustor, never had an issue with it.

Now I'm thinking I have a lot of stuff on my NAS that are redundant and don't need a "backup". The reason I chose RAID 1 when I configured my NAS the first time was to make sure I have a constant backup of my important personal data. Since this part of the data is not soo much, I would rather back it up periodically from one drive to the other, so in this case I don't need RAID1.

Unfortunately I haven't figured out how to downgrade to RAID 0 (or disable RAID), without losing my data. See image below, the wizard only gives me the option to replace the existing disks with larger ones.

Could somebody advise me how to turn off RAID 1?

Any help is appreciated.

Hi
The only way is to backup you data outside the NAS, and delete volume1.

see here : viewtopic.php?f=97&t=7982

If you have an external SATA=>USB adapter, you can brake your Raid, extract one disk, and format+use it from outside for backup purpose.
