Storage disappearing! 800+GB

Post by SirMacke »

I am losing storage space on my NAS.

AS1002T
ADM: 3.4.5.RBJ3

When checking in the web-interface, "Other" takes 800GB and rising fast.
What is this other?
I cannot find any files taking this space, TreeSize cannot see anything like this.

Having the same issue here on a AS5104T.

I moved a bunch of files on the weekend off the NAS to an external drive, and I have not been able to recover the space they use to use. Seeing 918.42GB of "Other" files. Tried empty ever trash I could find, checked for any snapshots to delete (there are no, I did not enable this feature)...

Edit: I'm on 3.4.5.RBJ3 as well.

Got it solved from Asustor Support.
I have asked them how to solve it in the future.

This is what they said:
First, if you go to the app central you can see that I have installed a fixed version of app to stop the converting and thumbnail.

The next ADM will give you the option to decide if you wish to create thumbnails for all the videos and pictures.

Just remember to remove this app after the ADM update.

And the issue should not occur again.
App name is "Stopping Background resize"

And the issue is back.
Slowly eating away at the free space..
Have opened another ticket with Asustor support.

I now have a solution to this.

Logon to the NAS over SSH.
Remember to log in as root (same password as admin account)

volum1/.@snapshot

With the following command to delete the shared folder

rm -rf xxxx/
