initialization of new AS1004T freezed

Post by jirazy »

I bought a new NAS AS1004T, two new Seagate IronWolf 3TB and two older WD Green 3TB discs. I'm working on notebook in linux without CD/DVD. I used the web interface to initialize and configure NAS. At initial initialization first thing that this interface requested was img of ADM - I entered the path to ARM_3.1.3.RHU2.img that I downloaded for this purpose. In the next step, initialization froze at 41%, beyond others with text "Unpack firmware" and icon of spinning circle. What shall I do to get working NAS?

I think you should send a support request to asustor to check it. https://support.asustor.com/

What I would do if my NAS froze like that is

1. Pull power cable out
2. Power up again to see what happens, does it ask for ADM again?
3. If so, get ANOTHER VERSION ADM, say < 3 and feed it to NAS
3a. If Asustor won't link you to an older version, ask here, some users only do manual updates and keep the downloaded ADM files
4. If it goes on smoothly then
4a. permanently disable auto ADM update
4b. leave it alone with that older version ADM for a long time
5. Think very carefully about touching ADM again

Just my 2c.

Thank you jirazy, you have helped me with the solution of using Firefox instead of Chrome.
