Upgrade from AS202T to AS3102T

Post by unome »

I plan to update to a more current NAS and was wondering can the drives just be swapped from one to the other or does a full backup, format, rewrite process need to be performed?

You should be able to simply move your HDDs from your old NAS to your new NAS (both are in power off state). Then turn the new NAS on. That should work.
Oh, you'll need to check AppCentral after done. There might be some applications that need to upgrade.

Thanks orion. I was hoping that would work. Should be trying it this weekend. I'll report back on the outcome.

And after updating the firmware it is running perfectly. Easiest upgrade I've ever done. Swap the drives and plug in the new box. Settings and all (including static IP) stuck.
Thanks for your help.
