Hello,
My NAS is the AS3204T v2 with ADM version 3.4.6.RDF3.
I would like to use disk hibernation and the sleep mode S3 when NAS is not used (ADM > Settings> Hardware > Energy Control). That's work only when the NAS have an access to internet.
If I disabled the access to internet for the NAS in my network (from my internet box). After a wake up, the process set-used-server of ADM starts an infinit loop of write on my hard disk ... Disk is permently used and system can't hybernate ...
Process set-used-server stop to write on the disk as soon as I enable the access to internet for the NAS. Then, the NAS can hibernate after the minimal inactivity delay.
Do you know if this process is linked to an application ? A feature ? an option ? Do you know a way to solve this anomaly ? I doesn't want that my the NAS of my LAN can exchange data with the WAN ...
I am so disappointed with this NAS ...
hibernation and suspend to ram require an access to internet ...

this is /volume0/usr/builtin/bin/set-used-server
this process could be launched by /volume0/usr/builtin/etc/init.d/S99set-used-server
Code: Select all
root@NAS-AS3204T-9257:/volume0/usr/builtin/bin # strings set-used-server
...
/volume1/.@tmp/nas_location.tmp

Re: hibernation and suspend to ram require an access to internet ...
set-used-process seem to be able to restart it itself if it don't be able to contact a remote server. That's the infinite loop of write.
I just need to don't start it or to kill it to stop the infinite loop. I can add the killing in S99set-used-server but my update will be canceled at the next restart.
So,
I 'm looking for
- any information about set-used-server, source and a way to contact maintainer
- a directory where i can add a starting script able to kill set-used-server if it take to many time to join a server.
Thank you for your help

Sounds odd. I let my NAS sleep (S3) everyday (my internet access is still the same without change). I think you should report this issue to asustor directly. https://support.asustor.com/

Re: hibernation and suspend to ram require an access to internet ...
support has been contacted.
For me , this procedure shows the problem :
1) Disable NAS's internet connection from router side
2) reboot the NAS
3) settings > hardware > Energy control > Diagnostic tools : set-used-server of ADM starts an infinit loop of write on the hard disk ...
4) Enable the NAS's internet connection
5) settings > hardware > Energy control > Diagnostic tool :set-used-server stop writing and system can go in hybernation mode
regards,
Marc
