Asustor 3102t unable to boot

Post by kunoichi »

Hi, i have an old asustor nas 3102t unable to boot, keep showing OS not found, boot device missing. Any advise, can it be salvage. I am not sure if the ADM is corrupted.

Will my Hdd be affected?

Probably the 512MB DOM is corrupted, need to see if it's accessible then replace the firmware image. Prepare a USB Live then boot the NAS off it. You can also use Ubuntu Installer without installing to gain access. All these requires some knowledge, else try to find someone who can access the NAS or do it remotely.

It's hard to tell unless you can provide the details of the issue and we can guide you step-by-step. The DOM (Disk on Module) might be corrupted (can be recovered by dumping a new image), missing/turned off in the bios (I can't get mine to show after turning it off in the bios, only a bios reflash made it reappear), or worst defective. Best is to get someone to help, like contacting Asustor Support.

One of my disk reported bad sectors and after that I has to shutdown and didn’t get a chance to start it up for 2 months. When I started it, it never boots, kept it running for a few hrs and no response.

Hence started to investigate and came up on this forum and wanted help to recover it.

I have recovered it, though tried to rule out the issues one by one.
- removed all Hdd and started the system - not working, same state
- replaced the battery and pulled out the DOM and put it back - able to see the storage on ACC
- plugged in all the hdd and restarted. All drives recovered. Though the same hdd started to report errors.

Performed external backup first while I am waiting for replacement disks.

Thanks. Hope this is usefull.
