apcupsd 'commlost'

Post by Mr. Happy »

I want to use apcupsd to monitor my ups. It looks like the ADM-software disconnects the apcupsd from the ups.
The following messages appear in dmesg:
[ 9717.340571] usb 1-4.1: usbfs: interface 0 claimed by usbfs while 'apcupsd' sets config #1
[ 9722.340886] usb 1-4.1: usbfs: interface 0 claimed by usbfs while 'apcupsd' sets config #1
[ 9727.341209] usb 1-4.1: usbfs: interface 0 claimed by usbfs while 'apcupsd' sets config #1
[ 9732.341530] usb 1-4.1: usbfs: interface 0 claimed by usbfs while 'apcupsd' sets config #1
[ 9738.172050] usb 1-4.1: usbfs: interface 0 claimed by usbfs while 'apctest' sets config #1
[13792.403336] usb 1-4.1: usbfs: interface 0 claimed by usbfs while 'apctest' sets config #1
[13803.904060] usb 1-4.1: usbfs: interface 0 claimed by usbfs while 'apctest' sets config #1

When I disconnect the ups (remove the usb-cable) and reconnect it apcupsd shows for a couple of seconds 'status online' after which is says 'commlost'.
The ups appears online in ADM and also shows in 'lsusb -v'.
The complete list looks like this:
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 125f:601a A-DATA Technology Co., Ltd.:unknown device 601a
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 1a40:0101 Terminus Technology Inc.:Hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation:2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation:3.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 009: ID 051d:0002 American Power Conversion:Uninterruptible Power Supply

Connecting the ups from one of the ports on the back to the on front does not make a difference.

Anybody got an idea how to resolve this?
