Re: RAM 2 x 8GB
Due to intel's SPEC limitation RAM Max.8GB.

Re: RAM 2 x 8GB
I don't want to rain on anyones parade, but if the processor specification says max 8 GB, it's very likely that the processor will not be able to *address* all 16 GB of ram. Even though the system is capable of showing 16 GB, the processor is probably only ever using 4 GB + 4 GB of ram, from either stick. The rest is wasted.
I recommend running some tests to confirm that all 16 GB are actually usable.

Regarding the Activity monitor, it uses the total amount of RAM:

Re: RAM 2 x 8GB
It would seem so. But do proceed with caution, keep in mind that you are using more RAM than the processor is spec'd for, so there might be unexpected consequences.
Then again, it could be that the Intel specification is unclear, and actually means max 8GB per memory channel (since it supports 2, it would allow for 16). But I find this to be highly unlikely.
PS. It might be a good idea to run memtest, if you haven't already.

Re: RAM 2 x 8GB
Wow, this is interesting news!
I've got a AS5104T with a J1900 CPU, which has the same max memory in the spechseet, https://ark.intel.com/products/78867/In ... o-2_42-GHz. Searching for "J1900 16GB ram" does give me a bunch of articles where people have made this work.
I'd like to see someone spin up a VM that consumes at least 12GB memory, which hopefully will prove that the hardware can address that much memory. Very cool!
