Hi,

This is probably a stupid question;
When i open the activity monitor and look at the drive usage i see (among other information) the size of:
* my (not empty) folders (565+698 GB)
* App central (1.38 GB)
* Free (1.85 TB)
* Other (505 GB)

all nicely presented in a colorful doughnut.

"Other" takes up about 1/8 of my drive space. I searched through the volume but i cannot find what occupies the 505 GB.
All I can find is the data under my main folders which is accounted for. I don't use any backup&restore, EZ sync or snapshot and cleared the recycle bin.

So the question is what occupies the 505 GB?

I'm not sure. But I know ADM consumes some spaces on each disk to store configurations and apps.

In complement, take attention to "network recycle bin" ... if activated ... thinks to empty it ... or if you have large usage (deleting file from the network) ... the space used can be important.

I don't know what the reason was but the "other" usage slowly declined over the past weeks to a moderate and stable ~10 GB. Quite a difference with the initial > 500 GB.
I also asked the question to Austor. They asked which file system i was using (EXT4) but then didn't respond anymore.

Thumbnails? /volume1/.@thumbnail. Last I checked it's about 350GB.
