UNABLE TO CREATE VOLUME on AS-6104T

Post by apicus »

Hi everyone,
I'm in deep trouble.

CONTEXT
My AS-6104T was equiped with 4x2Gb disks RAID5 and runs happily since 2015 or 2016
Due to a disk failure I replaced a 2Gb disk with a 4Gb drive (using only 2 Gb of it) : runs ok
I had later another disk failure and again I replaced another 2Gb disk with a 4Gb drive (using it as a 2Gb drive) : runs ok
Recently a third 2Gb disk had trouble and I decided to replace the 2 remaining 2Gb disks (one faulty and one OK) with 2x4Gb disks.

ACTUAL
The new configuration is 4x4Gb disks (will also be RAID 5)
I don't care about recovering data, everything has been saved.
The disks have been recognized and appear in the storage manager, so far so good.
But in the overall view of storage manager it says Error system failure.
I tried to update from 3.0.2.RA22 to 4.1.0.RJD1 => impossible no space (no volume)
I could not save the settings (Backup restore) export settings => impossible to ...(ref. 5005) no information in the journal
I tried the factory reset => shows popup window, clicked OK => nothing happens but the popup remains displayed

I've downloaded AiMaster-2.3.9.06010.apk and tried the same actions, nothing possible

How can I force the NAS to recover to a normal state :
Factory reset looks ok to me or any other sort of drastic reset.

Who's got a clue ?
Thanks for your valuable help

Your volume0 which is the ADM OS is probably filled. Simply enable the SSH service, ssh as root into the NAS, pass same as admin. Try check the space for both OS and rootfs:

Code: Select all

root@Nimbustor4:~# df -h / /volume0
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
rootfs 7.7G 62M 7.7G 1% /
/dev/md0 2.0G 349M 1.5G 19% /volume0
If it's indeed filled, you can start removing nonessential data such as in the /tmp or /var/log.

If you're unsure, ask someone knowledgeable to look into your system or contact Asustor Support.

In case that you did a full backup, you can:
  • Boot NAS up without any disks.
  • After NAS boot up, insert your disks back and follow the setup wizard.
