Disk healt status

Post by LuizSerpeloni »

Hello everyone!

I have a NAS device model AS6104T, which is showing divergences in the integrity readings.
It has 3 disks of 3.64TB in Raid 5.
With volume 1 marked as Degraded, with disk 2 inactive. While in the S.M.A.R.T. , volume 2 presents, the status as Healthy.
Is this a hardware issue? Or was it some logical problem?
I didn't find information on how to interpret this information.

If you know how to get "dmesg" log, you can post it here. If not, you should send a support request to asustor directly. https://support.asustor.com/

We removed the unit and noticed beeps when plugged into a dock. We chose to replace the unit, for safety.

I really appreciate the availability, thank you!

Best regards!

It should be a disk error. However there should be much more error messages than your posted log (I'm not sure if the posted log is completed or not). Anyway, you'd better to change this disk as soon as possible although you can still access this degraded volume.

I'm posting the full log on the link. I only saw two or three different messages, the rest is more of the same. Perhaps something has gone unnoticed. What I found strange is the S.M.A.R.T. display the message "healthy" in image 2, while in image 1 it is shown as "degraded". I don't know if this analysis isn't working as it should or if it's some feature it can't detect.

The error log that you posted is somehow different from that I saw before (sector errors). Anyway it proves disk error. SMART is just a statistic values, rather than physical status. If there are any errors (no matter SMART or disk error log), I'll change disk immediately.
