Okay so I should know this but...
I have a two bay NAS with two 6TB drives in RAID 1. One drive is showing more and more errors and I want to replace it. If I do replace it, will the NAS rebuild the image on the new drive automatically? Can I replace the drive with a 10TB drive??

Hi
You can replace the drive with a 10TB. Please find "Replacing existing hard disks with larger disks"

You can replace the drive with a 10TB one, but you are going to lose 4TB of capacity on it. This is due to how Raid 1 does the array. Raid 1 is mirroring, which means the data is written in exactly the same locations on all of the drives of the array. Since your original disks are Raid 1 6TB and the replacement a 10TB, the extra 4TB of space on it can't be st riped with the first drive. Effectively wasting the space.
One alternative is to purchase 2 10TB drives and follow the process here: https://www.asustor.com/en/online/Colle ... ?topic=352 to expand to the larger size. Keep in mind that when you do this replacement, you want to replace the disk that is erroring out first.
After you upgrade both drives and expand to 10TB, you may want to look into one of those external USB or esata cases to put your good 6TB drive into. That way you can upgrade the NAS's on-board storage, as well as add an additional 6TB hanging external. (16TB total space, in effect.)
