1. "On your PC, install CrashPlan from https://www.code42.com/store/"
result: I downloaded this install file to my Windows 10 system... https://www.code42.com/crashplan/thankyou?os=win
2. I double-clicked the resulting file, CrashPlan_4.4.1_Win.exe
3. I clicked Next, selected "Only for me", selected "I accept the terms in the License Agreement", accept the default install path "C:\Users\Lee\AppData\Local\CrashPlan", clicked Install, waited for the install to finish, then clicked Finish.
4. "Stop the CrashPlan User Interface on your PC."
result: As soon as the CrashPlan desktop app starts asking me for account information, I close it by clicking the red X icon in the upper right corner of the app.
5. "Disable and Enable the CrashPlan App in Asustor's App Central (Restart the App)."
result: Just to be sure, I first reboot the NAS. Then after my NAS starts up, I install CrashPlan using App Central. Then, I disable CrashPlan. Then, I enable it again.
6. "Find the .ui_info file on your PC and make a backup."
result: I copied .ui_info file from "C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\CrashPlan\.ui_info" to "C:\Users\User\Desktop". My original .ui_info file looks like this...
Code: Select all
4243,b0a3888c-b249-47f1-8155-725b4e9bb40f,127.0.0.1
result: Using File Explorer on my NAS, I downloaded /volume1/Public/crashplanservice/.ui_info to my Windows 10 machine. The download location is "C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\CrashPlan". Because Windows 10 or my browser is silly, it renamed my .ui_info file to "ui_info". So I deleted "C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\CrashPlan\.ui_info" and renamed "C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\CrashPlan\ui_info" to "C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\CrashPlan\.ui_info" using the command prompt.
The contents of updated .ui_info is now the following...
Code: Select all
4243,cb09d3e8-5008-4c51-b07e-bd35b39f6c15
Edit the ui.properties file and Uncomment the 'serviceHost' line by removing the bracket (#) at the start of the line and change 127.0.0.1 to the IP address of your NAS (for instance 192.168.1.30)."
result: On Windows, the "C:\Program Files (x86)\CrashPlan\conf" folder does not exist. I did find a "C:\Users\Lee\AppData\Local\CrashPlan\conf\ui.properties" file, however. Inside, the ui.properties file looked like this...
Code: Select all
#Tue Oct 13 21:33:15 PDT 2015
window=2455,247,800,610
Code: Select all
#Tue Oct 13 21:33:15 PDT 2015
window=2455,247,800,610
serviceHost=192.168.5.152
result: CrashPlan app starts up and logo just sits there for minutes (longest I waited is 10 minutes). I have attached a pic. At this point, I have to kill the CrashPlanDesktop.exe process to make the logo go away.
Based on this information, can you give me an idea on what I can try next to get this to work? Restarting my PC or the NAS at this point does nothing to help.
