CrashPlan configuration no longer working?

Post by RainCaster »

I installed CP on my 6208 and then on my Win10 laptop. I cannot get it to see the NAS, although it did once. The current version of the PC Client is 4.8.0, and I am told I need the down-rev version of 4.5.0, yet I cannot find that downrev version. I am having a real heckuva time getting this to work, and I really need a reliable backup package for all the machins in my small business.

Well yes i had the same Problem. The NAS App doesn't seem to auto-upgrade and newer clients won't work with a outdated Server Version. Had the same issue with a Freenas Server although updating the app there is easy. Didn't get it to work on the Asus NAS. So what i did was getting a Docker Container (https://hub.docker.com/r/jrcs/crashplan/) it does auto-update the Server Version and wortks like a charm. Give it a shot.

Hi

I tried playing with these but haven't so far figured out how to make the docker containers work.

Any hints for a Docker noob, or suggestion on where I can look for help?

Cheers and thanks in advance

I had to figure it out by myself too.
Install Docker + DockerUI from the Asustor Beta Apps.
Find the Crashplan thru Docker Hub. I took this one: https://hub.docker.com/r/jrcs/crashplan/
Pull it with Docker UI (DockerUI is deprecated i installed Portainer)
Create a Folder in the Asustor Filesystem like "crashplan" + "crashplan/storage
Click the Image you pulled and select "Run"
Under "Volumes" link the created folder with the Docker Image
Under Network select "Host" (never got it managed tu use bridged)

How to configure crashplan itself is explained in the Docker Hub Link
Well probably i've forgot something but still worth a try
