Have I fallen for the advertising? (emby>hdmi>Web browser)?

Bringing all of your media together into one place has never been easier. Your Emby Server automatically converts and streams your media on-the-fly to play on any device.

I would assume so. You can also try 0.0.0.0 or localhost (they're all the same thing).

ok its connected but i dont think ive been clear.

the portal on the LG tv is connecting to the emby server on the NAS over my internal network .

so when i watch a movie that is stored on the NAS it is in effect 'streaming' over the network FROM thr NAS to the TV.

i thought connecting via HDMI the data (the movie) would be passed via the HDMI cable NOT stream over the network?

Did 127.0.0.1 , 0.0.0.0 , or localhost not work?

Ok, then it's using the local device (your NAS), not the network.

Just to be clear, you are connecting your NAS to the TV via HDMI, switching to that HDMI port, and then using the Asustor Emby app in the Portal? You aren't using an LG Emby app on your TV?

could you please elaborate?

Emby in NAS is a "network" server. It means that you can organize your emby media files through network, not HDMI. So the easiest way for you is to organize your media files in Emby server (using a browser on your PC). Then, watch the contents from your LG TV's Emby app which is a player software. (So you don't actually need to connect NAS HDMI to your TV).

Thank you for your response, but what is the point of the HDMI then?

On futher investiagation it does look like I am streaming over my network not direct vias HDMI.

the whol point of me buying the Asustor was to take advantage of the HDMI connection and NOT stream over the house network as my family stream and play games over the internet.

i do feel a little let down to be honest that i cant take full advantage of the HDMI, also having had chance to 'play about' with the Portal, it does seem very '3rd party' in relation to apps. The plex media player is not official by the looks of it and I cant even get that to work via HDMI.

Can anyone confirm if they have a media player working in protal that uses HDMI NOT streaming over the network?
