Just want to ask 2 questions :
- Does ASUSTOR NAS support any kind of hybrid raid ? If I put 4x2TB and 4x3TB in 608T with 1 redundancy, how much space do I get ?
- How good is movie support with boxee app ? similar to boxee box or ?
Thank you
HybridRaid ? Movie support with boxee ?

Re: HybridRaid ? Movie support with boxee ?
Hi cyan,
Sorry to say that we do not support any kind of hybrid RAID on our devices. The reason for our decision to not support this is that Hybrid RAID significantly affects system performance causing a major slowdown in read/write speed.
If you put 4x2 TB and 4x3TB into the 608T with 1 redundancy, then you would be creating a RAID 5 volume.
The total available storage space for RAID 5 = (size of smallest disk) * (total number of disks – 1)
So, (2 TB) * (8 – 1) = 14 TB
You would have around 14 TB of storage space. (The actual number will be 13.xx TB because of some offsets and the fact that a certain amount of space will be reserved for system use.)

Our Boxee App supports a wide range of video files and in this respect is very similar to the Boxee box. The video formats that are supported by Boxee on ASUSTOR NAS include:
H.264 AVC (TS/AVI/MKV/MOV/M2TS/MP4)
VC-1 (TS/AVI/MKV/WMV)
MPEG-1 (DAT/MPG/MPEG)
MPEG-2 (MPG/MPEG/VOB/TS/TP/ISO/IFO)
MPEG-4 (MP4/AVI/MOV)
DivX 3/4/5/6 (AVI/MKV)
Xvid (AVI/MKV)
WMV9 (WMV/ASF/DVR-MS)
Thanks for your questions,
Allen
