Utorrent behind vpn?

Post by lanimul »

Ive noticed that when I set up Utorrent remote, Im able to connect to my server running utorrent outside of my LAN. Thats good, but my server is connected to vpn ..so does Utorrent app bypass vpn and is open to my routers WAN?

I'm not 100% sure what we are talking about here, but I believe you are saying you can access uTorrent via the VPN and direct through your Router?

I believe this is normal. While running a VPN all outgoing request are passed through the VPN, but incoming connections should still be available locally as long as the ports are forwarded etc.

Please feel free to correct me here, but experimentally, when connected to VPN, I can still access my system directly via a dynamic dns service (i.e via my router's IP address).

Im unable to connect to my NAS when it has a VPN WAN IP, while outside of my LAN. So im confused to how I can access uTorrent, with Utorrent Remote app on my mobile off of my wifi. If thats clearer :)
