Is Plex the best solution for internet video streaming?

I just purchased an Asustor AS3204T and one of my uses is for streaming video content via the Internet.

I have been trying to find the best currently supported app for this application. Is Plex what I should be investigating or something else?

Plex is surely the most popular fit with nas server streaming
