(SOLVED) Migrating from 32-bit to 64-bit NAS

Post by Elrique64 »

I'm getting closer to buying the 7004T model of NAS. Just have a couple of things left to do, and want to make sure all my duckies are in a row before I bite the bullet.

One thing I'm wondering about... Asustor says in their documentation I can remove the existing drives from my 32-bit NAS and just plug them into the 64-bit NAS and everything should work great. BUT, what about those 32-bit apps I have running on the original NAS to begin with? Will I have to disable them first or will they work correctly, and I need to update them to 64-bit manually?

There are a few other questions about this type of thing, so if anyone has experience with this, please pipe in.

I have done it. The only real problem is with the 32 bit Apps. They will not work until you install the 64 bit versions.

Due to dependencies you may need to uninstall several and then install the 64 bit versions.
In order to keep your config you may need to make backups of configs for various Apps.
