(SOLVED) netdata : Real-time performance monitoring

Post by itdaboyz »

Hi,

It could be really great to have a port of netdata on ADM : https://github.com/firehol/netdata

I tried to built it myself, but I have little knwoledge of unix environment and python.
I would love to see a tutorial for this, but I think it take much time and depends of every app to build.

Any kind of tools like this would be a huge benefit. Regardless of if it's this tool set or not! We are sorely lacking in any kind of hard reporting features. System Monitor just doesn't cut it.

Agree. This would be a great tool to see what is going on.

Hi itdaboyz, Mike and Cheval,

One of our developer has just packed the Netdata for us and we are testing it now. Once the testing is finished, we will put it in App Central. If you like, you can try it from the following first:

My NAS will go to sleep some time in mid night...

Hi Shawn,

I have a 302T. Since it's ARM, I can't test this .apk.
Is it planned to build it for ARM as well ?

I'm glad to see Asustor replying and building suggested apps that fast ! Thanks.

Hi itdaboyz,

Sorry, here is the correct version for AS2 and AS3 models. The previous version is for AS6, AS5, AS61/62 and AS7.

Wow that's really fast !
Thanks, I'm going to test it.

EDIT : It works nicely !
One thing : EZ-Router doesn't automatically add rule for netdata 19999 port, so I had to create it manually.

Thanks Asustor for the app :)

I can't seem to start it. It installs fine, giving me the 19999 port requires, and the warning about unsupported applications. Starts, and when I try to access it I get an error "unable to connect" with a browser (FireFox, MS Edge, and Chrome) (Chrome says ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED) and looking in the log files I see a lot of errors like this:

Code: Select all

apache: cannot find stub_status on URL 'http://127.0.0.1:80/server-status?auto'. Please set apache_url='http://apache.server:80/server-status?auto' in /usr/local/AppCentral/netdata/etc/netdata/apache.conf
charts.d: chart 'apache' check() function reports failure.
charts.d: ap: configuration file '/usr/local/AppCentral/netdata/etc/netdata/ap.conf' not found. Using defaults.
/usr/local/AppCentral/netdata/usr/libexec/netdata/plugins.d/../charts.d/ap.chart.sh: line 36: iw: command not found
charts.d: chart 'ap' check() function reports failure.
And this:

Code: Select all

charts.d: cpu_apps: configuration file '/usr/local/AppCentral/netdata/etc/netdata/cpu_apps.conf' not found. Using defaults.
charts.d: cpu_apps: Please set cpu_apps_apps='command1 command2 ...' in /usr/local/AppCentral/netdata/etc/netdata/cpu_apps_apps.conf
charts.d: chart 'cpu_apps' check() function reports failure.
charts.d: cpufreq: configuration file '/usr/local/AppCentral/netdata/etc/netdata/cpufreq.conf' not found. Using defaults.
And also this:

Code: Select all

16-04-14 15:50:25: ERROR: netdata: Cannot advise the kernel about the memory usage (MADV_MERGEABLE) of file '/usr/local/AppCentral/netdata/var/cache/netdata/system.idlejitter/jitter.db'. (errno 22, Invalid argument)
And many many more errors further down the log file.....

Trying to start it in PuTTY I get this error:

Code: Select all

/usr/local/AppCentral/netdata/usr/sbin/netdata: /lib64/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.14' not found (required by /usr/local/AppCentral/netdata/usr/sbin/netdata)
/usr/local/AppCentral/netdata/usr/sbin/netdata: /lib64/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.15' not found (required by /usr/local/AppCentral/netdata/usr/sbin/netdata)
Does this error mean I need to go to 2.6 beta?

This is on a 7004T with 16GB of Ram. I know this is just put together as a test at this point, but would love get this running. If Quote has the time, he can email directly, as I think he probably still has my email.

Mike, do you have node.js installed ?
I think it's mandatory but not listed when you install the app.
(I'm on 2.6 beta btw)

I just signed up for the beta, but haven't gotten the link in email yet. I'm guessing this is how it works, anyway....

I just saw in the beta that eglibc gets upgraded to glibc 2.22 which means that NetData does require 2.6 based on the errors I saw when trying to start it in PuTTY.

Too bad, actually. I had hopes that this was going to work with the stable release.
